October 26 2000 "Project Fit America" (PFA), A Physical Fitness Program Is Dedicated At HHS ![]() Cutting the ribbon to officially open the PFA area are L to R: Teacher Angie Schnacker, Judy Sabbert-Mack and Karon Acord representing the Heartland Regional Community Foundation of St. Joseph, MO, Elizabeth McKim and Mike Volker. The entire "Project Fit America" exercise includes nine stations. Not shown were the parallel bars, step-ups, and the starting warm-up and ending cool down stations. Only five schools received grants for the "PFA" program in this five state region. They were: Kickapoo Nation, KS; Grant City, MO; Pickering, MO; St. Joe, MO and Humboldt, NE. The grant writers were Lynn Connell and Angie Schnacker with help from many students who wrote letters of why the "PFA". Center was needed. The new equipment is an excellent addition to the Humboldt School adn when properly utilized it will mean that children attending the Humboldt School will have a big advantage over other students in the area in terms of physical fitness. The new equipment is located at the north end of the playground in the NE corner behind the gym.
